EVENTS

There are four core events during the festival:

1. Arts & Cultural Exposition (Cultural Expo)
The arts & cultural expo includes promotion booths to display information regarding latin american culture and arts based on their country of origin (Latin American countries).

2. Arts & Cultural Show
The arts & cultural show will serve as the entertainment segment of the festival which will include a variety of Latin American cultural and arts performance. The performance would performed indoors and also outdoor depending on the performance itself. There are four core events during the festival.

3. Mini-Cinema Festival
This segment of the festival will include Latin American cinematographic works in the form of movies and documentaries which will be played in several designated venues within the University for students and the general public to view.

4. Interactive Talkshows
This segment of the Festival will involve invited speakers to discuss upon topics related to latin american culture and its influence in the world at large and in Indonesia. There will be at least 1 - 2 talkhows per day.

Latin American Culture Festival - Open To The Public!






Introduction

Over the past few years, the influence of Latin American culture has spread rapidly through out the world. In Asia, especially in Indonesia the growing influence can be seen through the rising number of people interested in participating in various activities related to Latin American culture. From participating in Spanish and Portuguese language courses, salsa, tango and merengue dance communities to Capoiera clubs, the general public in Indonesia is showing great interest in Latin American culture.

Based on that, the Program of International Relations Studies, Faculty of Political and Social Science of Budi Luhur University will be Organizing the Latin American Cultural Festival on October 2011.

  • About the Festival

The Latin American Cultural Festival is a three day festival that will include a series of artistic, cultural, and educational talkshow events to be held at Budi Luhur University during the end of October 2011.
The events are free of charge and are open to the public. More than 3000 students will be attending the event along with people from the general public interested in knowing more about Latin American culture.
The organizing of this event will be the responsibility of the Program of International Relations Studies, Faculty of Political and Social Science of Budi Luhur University.

Budi Luhur University




Budi Luhur University is private university located in South Jakarta which was first established in 1979 under the name Budi Luhur Computer Science Academy. Over the years, Budi Luhur University has developed from being a center of higher learning in computer science to a University with 5 under-graduate faculties, 2 graduate schools and 1 secretary Academy.

The University is renowed for hosting several international events such as the ASEAN International Relations Students Conference (AIRSC) in 2008 and the International Cultural Festival (ICF) in 2009.
